This article is based on my own experiences of what is needed to get a DSL access with the correct technical spesifications and needed information of where the ISP must install the DSL.
Installation adress as precise as possible
- Street adress
- Entrance number (if there is one)
- Floor
- Room
- A telephone number at the site (often needed by the internet provider to precisely locate the adress)
Technical information
Two public IP-addresses in a /30 subnet (mask 255.255.255.252). This is based on my company where we uses Cisco VPN equipment
- 1 IP adress for NAT/IPSec
- 1 IP adress for the default gateway to the ISP
Support information needed for supporting the new site
The internet provider must supply this information.
- Name of the internet provider
- Reference number of the ADSL-line
- Documentation of the Service Level Agreement of the ADSL connection (uptime of connection, response time for support, etc)
- Support email address
- Support phone number
This should ensure that you get the part of the DSL line correct. The next step is to configure the VPN router correctly. That is a whole different matter and npt subject of this article.
