Here are a couple of tips regarding the new WordPress 2.3 version

“WordPress 2.3 arrived a couple days ago. Reception has been very positive, and most people seem pleased with it. As expected, plugin compatibility due to the schema changes caused some grief. Two very popular plugins that need to be upgraded when moving to 2.3 are Google Sitemaps and Extended Live Archives. If you have one of those plugins, please be sure to upgrade to the latest version.”

I started using WordPress with one of the default themes. That worked fine until I wanted to make some changes, so I found that it would be better to start from scratch to get complete control over every element on the page. The best solution seemed to be to build a new skin based on Blank Theme.

Characteristics

Ignore local, mailto and ftp links.
Ignore links that point to zip, exe, rar, swf, mp3, wav, mid, avi, mov, mpg, mpeg, wmv, pdf, doc, ppt, xls, jpeg, gif, png files.

triSexuality Standard theme for WordPress

triSexualtiy Standard is a really nice looking theme that I now have implemented for this blogg. The theme has a colourfull wide – thin – thin look that I really like.

A small tutorial about how to use Gallery from Menalto

This tutorial is made for my brother in law Espen, but can be used by anyone using Gallery2.

First you need to go to the homepage of Gallery. Use the login link.
Enter your Username, password and catchpa (computergenerated code)
Click the link Add a photo
Click the link Add Album
Enter esential information about the album

Name is the most critical field to fill out. I prefer to start the name with the date the album is created, 060829This-is-the-title, Year first, then month and day. This makes it easier to fetch the album from the fileserver later if this is needed.
Please use no spaces or norwegian characters in the Name field.
Push the Create button

Choose Upload applet and push the Add pictures button
Choose the pictures you want to upload
Push the Upload button
Limit access to see the album

The Gallery is limited to registered users only
New User registration must be done from the Register link at http://espen.skagen.bz
Espen must approve new members

Eirik Solheim from the good technoblogg eirikso.com has an interesting article about bad marketing from norwegian electronic retail shops. The interesting thing about this is an experiment from Eirik where he tries to drive trafic to his site and get a high ranking at Google to demonstrate that he “shows them that an article that says that they’re all morons hits better than their own shops”.
