An Introduction to Time-Lapse Photography

It is hard for me to believe that this is the tenth year of up dating the Time-Lapse Photography FAQ. With all the advances in digital cameras there is more to write about than ever. I will attempt to get across the fundamentals of working with digital cameras in the new chapter completely devoted to digital Time-lapse. I have also included a full chapter on Construction Time-Lapse a current hot topic with many new uses for the current series of digital cameras.

I would like to thank all of the great photographers and engineers that have written and called in the past year. Your insights and strange requests have keep me thinking that there are many new directions to go in the world of time-lapse photography.

Reset the root password of MYSQL on SME-server version 7

I recently made the stupid mistake of changing the root password of MYSQL on my SME-server. The biggest problem was that I after the change couldnt log in to MYQL with the web based administration tool PHPMyAdmin.
After mych searching on the internet I found the following sollution in the bug tracker at contribs.org:

http://contribs.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=778

To just re-initialize the root password, you can do:

cd /service/mysqld
runsvctrl d .
cat set.password | /usr/libexec/mysqld –bootstrap \
–user=mysql –skip-grant-tables
runsvctrl u .

Google Maps flight simulator

Google Maps flight simulator It’s a flight sim based on Google Maps. Here you can fly a little plane over several cities in the world and even the moon of Mars as well.
This is a funny way to learn Geography!

How to install Open VPN on IP COP firewall

When my combined router/webserver crashed I decided to build a dedicated firewall with DMZ capabilities. IP COP which is an open Source Linux based firewall seemed to fulfill my needs and was chosen. IP COP works flawlessly, but I want to try an OPEN VPN solution and this is not supported natively in IP COP.
I have found this how2 describing how to install and configure Open VPN on IP COP. It describes using the Zerina OpenVPN extension for IPCop based firewalls.

Spin Ink – Using Suse
